VLI is proud to announce a four-year program for full time pastors and full time pastoral assistants.
The VLI Pastors' Track spreads our 2 year program over 4 years and only requires approximately 10 hours a week. Many pastors who may be interested in The VLI Pastor's Track either already host VLI sites or plan to do so. Therefore, it is important to keep the pastor's track in sync with that of the other VLI students so you can benefit from the synergy of your emerging leaders going through the same program. This is not difficult to do. You can decide which need or interest is personally more pressing-the biblical-theological or fine-tuning your understanding of leadership and ministry. If it is the former, then you can spend the first two years focusing on the Biblical-Theological courses and the last two years on the leadership and ministry courses. If it is the latter, then it works the other way around.
Here is how it works. If you want to pursue the "Biblical - Theological" courses first, your program will go as follows:
| Term |
Course Title(s) |
Taking Place |
| Fall 2008 |

| Spring 2009 |
The Writings |
Weekly Class |
| Summer 2009 |
Either History of the Christian Church and Theology (the weekly class) or Systematic Theology I and Systematic Theology II (the 2 weekend intensives)
*Both of these classes are considered Biblical - Theological. You can choose to do either the weekly class or the intensives.

Then, once you complete all of the above classes, you will begin the "Practical" classes:
| |

On the other hand, if you want to pursue the leadership and ministry courses first, then you can begin in Fall 2008 by following the "Practical" courses in the same sequence as above (under Fall 2010 and following). After that you would begin in Fall 2010 with the sequence of "Biblical - Theological" courses above (under Fall 2008 and following).
The cost for the VLI Pastor's Track per Quarter is currently $298 for resident students and $334 for distance students. You would follow the application process as listed on the Admission's page. The $50 non-refundable application fee is due with the application. Please check the box that you will be taking the Pastor's Track, and indicate wither Biblical-Theological or Practical on your application. The quarterly tuition will be due by the first day of class for that quarter.
Since you are a full time pastor or pastoral assistant already involved in ministry, you will not need to fulfill any additional service requirements. The mentoring portion of VLI is optional, but the mentoring classes for Preaching/Teaching, Evangelism and Pastoral Care are available if further training is desired in one or all of these areas. One Leadership Project will be due every year during the Winter quarter, for a total of 4 Leadership Projects during your time in VLI. These can be written about an area that falls within your current pastoral duties. We will provide guidelines as to how this looks.
If you are not in Columbus, you can be a distant student as long as there are at least two students at the site. If you have any questions or need clarification, please contact a VLI Representative at 614-259-5417.
